Steven Tyler was airlifted to a hospital Thursday morning after falling from the stage during an Aerosmith concert in Sturgis, North Dakota.

Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the concert venue -- the Buffalo Chip Campground tells the Associated Press, that the 61-year-old rocker fell backwards onto a couple fans while he was dancing around in order to entertain the crowd after the sound system failed during the song "Love In an Elevator."

"He was good natured about it," Sanborn says. "He was in good spirits when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician."

Sanborn tells the AP that Tyler suffered minor head and neck injuries as well as a shoulder injury.

After the fall, Tyler was evaluated backstage by medical personnel and was then flown to Rapid City Regional Hospital.

  • Oh, and by the way, getting weaned off of pain killers after medical procedures doesn't really count as 'falling off the wagon', before y'all start typing furiously. The man has it together and deserves respect.

  • Hopefully he recovers soon. I give him credit for continuing to rock. Few musicians can do it for so many years.
