Olympian Michael Phelps in Car Accident

"The Insider" can confirm that Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was in a car accident in Baltimore on Thursday night. Read on for the details.

A Baltimore Police spokesman tells us that Phelps was involved in a two-car collision, but he wasn't injured. The Olympian swimmer was behind the wheel of a late-model Cadillac Escalade that collided with a Honda Accord driven by a female.

The spokesman says the woman was "shaken up" and taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Police interviewed Phelps and witnesses of the accident.

No arrests were made and no charges were filed. The cause of the crash is still being investigated, but alcohol and drugs were not a factor, the police spokesman tells us. A new report will be available tomorrow.
