Hollyscoop: Gwen Stefani Sues Forever 21

From our friends at Hollyscoop
On any given day, you can walk into a Forever 21 store and walk out with a knock-off designer dress for under $25. The retail chain makes it possible for you can look trendy without breaking the bank. Although Forever 21 is a household name, the store has had multiple infringement lawsuits.

Singer Gwen Stefani is the latest designer to file a suit, alleging that her designs have been copied by the popular retail store. She’s claiming infringement of her heart design trademarks from her Harajuku and L.A.M.B. clothing lines. Hey Gwen don't get too mad now, imitation is the highest form of flattery! In the official court papers, Gwen -- through her company Harajuku Lovers, LLC -- is seeking to stop Forever 21 from "engaging in further acts of trademark infringement."

This isn't the first time Forever 21 has been sued by fashion designers. Diane von Furstenberg sued the chain earlier this year for copying a dress design and we hear she'll have a hard time winning the case.Designers like Gwen or Diane may be cursing Forever 21 for knocking off their designs, but we sure love them.

God knows we can’t afford the designer versions---so until then, Forever 21 it is.

  • Designers shouldn't really be upset with retailers like forever 21. They make much more money with celebrities and upscale people buying their clothes. Poor people want to look good too but we can't afford to break or banks with $200 dollar dresses.

  • i am definitely on gwen's side. i saw the exact same logo at forever 21. i think what forever 21 is doing is called plagiarizing, or copying from other designers and submitting it as theirs. so gwen has the right to take legal action against forever...
