"My expectation is that at some point, something happens,” Elizabeth said when asked if she knew whether there would be a paternity test related to her husband's former mistress' Rielle Hunter's young daughter. "I hope that for the sake of this child, that it happens in a quiet way."
Elizabeth, who appeared on the show to discuss healthcare in America, also talked about her family life at home, saying: "Things are going fine. We're getting the children ready for the new school year. Everything is going smoothly at my house."
As for her ongoing battle with cancer, a courageous Elizabeth told Larry, "The numbers don't look that optimistic, but I feel good."
Last week, North Carolina TV station WRAL reported that sources claimed that John Edwards was expected to claim paternity of his former mistress' young daughter.
Hunter gave birth to a daughter named Frances in 2008, but Edwards has previously said that his affair with Hunter ended before the baby was conceived.
