Jake Gyllenhaal and Christina Applegate will appear in a new Sesame Street-style production to teach Jewish children about their faith, identity and culture. The A-listers will join other stars for Shalom Sesame, a 12-part series for preschoolers featuring Muppet Grover. Several segments will be shot in Israel, with locations including the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Debra Messing, Greg Kinnear and Cedric the Entertainer will also join puppets and children in the program, say the series' producers. Ben Stiller is another actor expected to bring his hilarious comic style to the program, pending final confirmation. "For so much of the Jewish community outside Israel, they may never come here. This is a great way to have a virtual experience," executive director Danny Labin said. Shalom Sesame is expected to debut around the Hanukkah holiday in December 2010.
