Jackman has become the patron of the indigenous Bangarra dance company in Australia, which marked its 20th anniversary by announcing the appointment. The international superstar joins his Australia co-star Nicole Kidman in taking up a patronage at ground level. She carries out the same role for the Australian Theatre for Young People. The dance company made its announcement at a launch of a 20-year retrospective show titled Fire that opens at the Sydney Opera House ahead of a nationwide tour. Plans to turn the region where Baz Luhrmann's Australia was set to lure tourists form another legacy of the movie. Tourism Australia uses stunning iconic imagery from the Kununurra region to promote the country overseas.
