Bono Ignores the Critics

Superstar Bono has said he believes to make the most out of success, you have to ignore the critics and make fame work for you. The lead singer of U2 recently spoke out about how he handles being a major celebrity. The 49-year-old said: "If you're smart, you can create a world where you shrink in size and then you find oxygen and room to manoeuvre. If you're not, then you shrink your world and tower above it." The Irish star added: "When you are a singer in a band, you stick your neck out for a living, get used to the knocks. And I've noticed that the spleen and ire of your enemy usually take them out." One of the most successful singer-songwriters around, Bono has been in the spotlight since the 1970s, when he rose to fame with his band U2. He said: "People have a short attention span; you need a picture of a pop star and a Pope together, that gets their attention."
