Paris Hilton has been given the go ahead by a US appeals court to sue Hallmark over a greeting card poking fun at her. The birthday card captioned 'Paris's First Day as a Waitress' features Paris serving food to a customer with the line: "Don't touch that, it's hot. What's hot? That's hot!" The court ruled Hilton is free to pursue her lawsuit against the company over its use of her picture and 'That's hot!' catchphrase. Hilton alleged Hallmark violated her privacy and right of publicity by using a scene from her reality TV show 'The Simple Life' on the $2.49USD card. A three-judge panel of the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Hallmark's argument that its depiction of the hotel heiress was protected speech. Hilton filed the lawsuit two years ago. She is seeking at least $500,000 in damages and a permanent injunction barring Hallmark from further using her name and likeness.
