According to People.com, the invitations for the memorial say that the service will have a specific format in order to acknowledge Goldstein's battle with addiction.
"The format of the evening will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting," the invite says. "Adam's friends both from his life in recovery, as well as those from other areas of his life are welcome. We ask only that everyone adhere to the tradition of anonymity and let what they hear there, and who they see there, stay there."
The memorial is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Thursday night at the Hollywood Palladium, People says.
In addition, Goldstein's family reached out to fans to thank them for their overwhelming support with the following statement on DJ AM's Myspace page. "We appreciate the kind words and support for Adam over the past few days. Due to your inquiries, in lieu of flowers, AM's family would like to suggest making donations to the following charitable organizations."
