This was a sad and somber week in Hollywood. The sudden and unexpected death of DJ AM affected the entire community. Adding to the already-solemn mood was the burial of Michael Jackson on Thursday. It's been a rough week, but let's dive in. News started trickling in last Friday that DJ AM (Adam Goldstein), famous spinner to the stars, had been found dead in his apartment in New York City. Later in the day it was confirmed and over the past 7 days authorities have been piecing together what happened. While toxicology tests have yet to be released, it's been revealed that he had OxyContin pills in his system and other drug paraphernalia around his body. Though he had been sober for over 10 years, he had just recently relapsed, with many speculating it was related to a recent breakup. DJ AM also had survived a plane crash earlier in the year that had killed some of his close friends but spared him and pal Travis Barker. The outpouring of sadness over his death has been tremendous. Many celebs, including fellow plane crash survivor Travis Barker, Lindsay Lohan, John Mayer, Diddy, and Shanna Moakler, turned to their Twitter accounts to share their thoughts and feelings about his passing. Rock band Blink 182 talked about their friend throughout a show the following night but had to cancel a later show since they were so upset. Rain Nightclub offered a moment of silence in honor of their house DJ. DJ AM's funeral was Wednesday and a memorial at the Hollywood Palladium took place Thursday night. It was in the style of a 12-step meeting in acknowledgement of his battle with addiction.
