At 3:45 a.m., the San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to a disturbance call made by the MTV reality star, who alleged that her assailant was San Diego Chargers' linebacker Shawne Merriman.
Merriman claims he did not harm Nguyen but says she appeared to be intoxicated and he was concerned for her to drive, he said in a statement to the Associated Press. He also said in the statement that when paramedics were called out to the house they did not report any signs of injury on Nguyen.
According to the sheriff’s department, Nguyen made a citizen’s arrest at the premises, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment.
Nguyen was then transported to Pomerado Hospital, while Merriman was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Deputies.
Nguyen is best known for her MTV dating show “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila,” which appeared for two seasons.
