Held in front of Vienna's former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace, artists such as Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, and Natalie Cole recently added their names to a quickly growing list of acts, according to Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson. Sister Sledge, Akon, and Angela Bassett previously offered to lend their talents to this special event. Additional artists will be announced later this week.
The musicians are slated to cover Michael Jackson classics such as "Thriller," "Billie Jean," and "Black or White." Jackson's original band and dancers will join the singers on stage. Jermaine Jackson tells the Associated Press that this location was selected because Michael "loved castles."
A crowd of 65,000 fans are projected to attend the September 26 concert. Jermaine Jackson tells the AP that negotiations are in progress to designate a broadcaster to show the event live worldwide. Tickets went on sale last month.
