Since being extended the offer to fill the seat left vacant by Paula Abdul, "I've been dying to tell everyone," Ellen says on her show scheduled to air Thursday.
Ellen is a devout "Idol" fan, confessing, "I have not missed one episode of that show." The comedian and talk show host adds that she hopes to represent the "people's point of view."
Fans of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" need not worry. She will continue hosting her popular daytime show. "I'm gonna have a day job and a night job," she says. "That's the times we're living in."
The new season of 'American Idol' premieres on FOX in January 2010.
