Just In: Paula Abdul Wishes Ellen 'The Best of Luck' on 'American Idol'

Paula Abdul speaks to "The Insider" about the news that comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is joining "American Idol" as the fourth judge.

In a statement to "The Insider," Paula says:

"'American Idol' is a fantastic show that offers an invaluable platform to young talent. Ellen DeGeneres is wildly funny and talented in her own right. I wish her and the show only the best of luck."

Ellen will join the 'Idol' judges' panel when the hit singing competition returns to FOX next January.

  • Shame on you Ellen for taking Paula's job-your being an idol judge is a big joke. Work out a deal since your show was being sued? Bring Paula back and give her money like you so freely gave to Ryan and Simon!

  • Bring Paula Back!!! Ellen is no more a judge than I am! American Idol has made the biggest mistake thus far in letting Paula go. I think Ryan and Simon could have spared some of their millions-HELLO!

  • paula has class! american idol is wrong paying men way more than women! they should be fined! ellen is great on her show! however will not watch and disappointed in ellen for taking the job knowing the reason why paula left! guess ellen doesn't...

  • Paula took her chance, no one is irreplaceable. Fox is in it for the bottom line. There is no in between you either love or hate the show.

  • I don't know what they were thinking when they put Elen in place of Paula. Ellen makes my skin crawl and I WILL NOT watch the show with Kara and Ellen on it. Thank God for cable!!
