Boyle captured the hearts--and ears--of Americans following her breakout performance on "Britain's Got Talent." She sang a cover of the Rolling Stones' ballad "Wild Horses."
In addition to the $1 million grand prize, Skinner will headline an "America's Got Talent" show at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Set to open in October, the stage production will be hosted by the show's former television host, Jerry Springer.
The country singer from Mayfield, Kentucky beat-out Barbara Padilla, an opera singer from Houston, as well as eight other finalists for the title. Other finalists included Recycled Percussion, Texas Tenors, and Voices of Glory.
In addition to Boyle, Leona Lewis, Shakira, Rascal Flatts, and the cast of Cirque du Soliel's "Banana Schpeel" graced the stage with guest performances.
