"It's just going to be a different show," she said of the change, while on the KISS FM Phoenix radio show Johnjay and Rich.
The radio hosts asked Abdul if she ever had second thoughts about leaving the show, of which she replied, "I think that happened during the time I was making that very difficult decision."
The former "Idol" judge said that she fought with herself about leaving the program and asked herself the question, "Am I willing to go against what my beliefs are?"
So, what's next for the entertainer? Abdul said she's only "scratched the surface" of things she wants to do, revealing that she will be producing some TV shows and creating a show in Las Vegas.
"American Idol" returns for a new season in January 2010.
