Smirnoff, who is partnered with Aaron Carter this season, used to wear fur, but now she says she would rather wear anything at all … or nothing at all.
Here, Smirnoff poses for a scintillating new ad campaign for PETA, entitled "I'd Rather Dance Naked than Wear Fur.
"I did wear fur, especially when I was growing up in the Ukraine," Smirnoff admits in an exclusive PETA interview. "But there are ways of being warm and being fashionable without being cruel."
Smirnoff stopped wearing fur after watching video footage of baby seals who were killed for their skins. Realizing how cruel it is "when we take advantage of an innocent animal that cannot defend herself," Smirnoff gave up fur for good.
Smirnoff joins a growing list of celebrities—including Pamela Anderson, Khloe Kardashian, Eva Mendes, and Charlize Theron, who have starred in PETA's anti-fur ad campaign.
