Star Jones Speaks Out on Roman Polanski

Copyright 2008 The Insider / The Insider
Emmy nominee and former prosecutor Star Jones is sounding off on director Roman Polanski on tonight's episode of "The Insider."

She says, "I have no sympathy for him. He's in jail. Three hots and a cot, that's what you're supposed to get. Something tells me Spike Lee would not have been allowed to chill in France for the last three decades had he admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old."

She goes on to say, "Roman Polanski is very much loved by the Hollywood industry and they are out there putting petitions together… Because he [Polanksi] is white and he is rich, he was privileged."

Tune in to "The Insider" tonight for more.

  • I think Star's comments were irresponsible and offensive. How many black stars get away with similar crimes, such as R. Kelly? The point, Star, is it is not a black or white issue, it is just a money issue. Roman should go to jail with R. Kelly....

  • I don't see why the argument got so heated. Wether Spike Lee would have been allowed to chill in France is irrelevant. Polanski isn't black nor is there another case like it with a black director. Move on, stay relevant to the topic.

  • I think everyone and I mean everyone needs to chill. The reason race is such an issue with any topic is because everone makes it an issue. If more people would learn to not worry about what other people are doing unless it directly affects their...

  • Perhaps Star Jones was trying to imply that the public has less sympathy for a black criminal (especially a sex offender) than a white one. Hystorically in America, this is all too true, for crimes real AND imagined. Inverting the argument to...

  • Here is my opinion, i think these days individuals that look at stereotypes for reasons a individual did not get in trouble are just finding excuses instead of looking at the justice system itself on things. If someone such as Star wants too come...

  • Exactly, I agree with Star Jones, race a major playing card to how things are handled in the United states and including having money and social class. The hell with him, I hope someone in jail has fun with him. That guy who was arguing with Star is...

  • It has nothing to do with him being WHITE or MALE. It is solely him being RICH and FAMOUS and being WELL loved by dumb HOLLYWOOD. She said "Hollywood" can get by with anything.. "HELLO" she is hollywood too, she could get by with something too...

  • I also agree with Star about Hollywood embracing and supporting him, wonder if the ones that support him would let them alone with their young daughter? I HATE him.

  • It is NOT a RACE issue. It is a case of him being RICH and FAMOUS. ALOT (NOT ALL) of Rich-Famous people of ALL COLORS get different treatment. Its like there are 2 sets of rules. 1 for rich and famous and another for the average joe that no one...

  • I agree with her on one thing, Polanski needs to rot in jail for drugging and raping (Multiple times in different orifices) a 13 year old girl. BUT race has NOTHING to do with it. ALMOST any rich/famous person of ANY color gets this treatment. O.J....
