'Scream 2009' celebrates sci-fi, comics, horror

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Spike TV is honoring vampires, space rangers and comic-book heroes at "Scream 2009."

The star-studded event being held Saturday at the Greek Theater will air as a two-hour special on Oct. 27. It's set to include appearances by Hugh Jackman, Quentin Tarantino, Tobey Maguire and Megan Fox and feature world-premiere footage from the new "Twilight" film.

Horror-film pioneer George Romero will receive the Scream Mastermind award, comic-book legend Stan Lee will receive the Comic-Con Icon award and Keith Richards will receive the Rock Immortal award at the fourth annual event.

Fans were invited to vote online for their favorite films and TV shows in categories such as best villain, best superhero and most memorable mutilation.
