Suzanne Somers Speaks Out on Controversial Patrick Swayze Comment

On today's "The Insider," Suzanne Somers speaks out on her controversial comments about Patrick Swayze's cancer treatment and talks about her new book with alternatives to curing cancer.

"I did not mean for that [comment] to be public but I shouldn't have said it," says Suzanne of her highly publicized remark. "I don't know anything about his cancer, I apologized profusely to his family."

Suzanne reportedly talked about Swayze right after he died to a Toronto-based columnist of the National Post, saying, "They took this beautiful man and they basically put poison in him. ... Why couldn't they have built him up nutritionally and gotten rid of the toxins in his body? I hate to be this controversial. I'm a singer-dancer-comedienne. But we have an epidemic going on, and I have to say it."

Suzanne says she wrote a letter of apology to Swayze's brother and asked him to pass along her words to Swayze's wife, Lisa Niemi, since, "She loved him so much I'm sure she just doesn't want to have to deal with anybody, especially me."

The author and former "Three's Company" star, herself diagnosed with cancer years ago, writes about "how to cure cancer another way" in her new book in stores now, Knockout: Interviews with Doctors who are Curing Cancer and How to Prevent Getting It in the First Place.
