Keri Hilson Receives Gold Album Certification, AMA Nominations

Keri Hilson couldn't have picked a better title for her debut album.

The pop singer's "In a Perfect World" has received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. The music honor comes along with more good news for Hilson, including dual nominations for American Music Awards, where she will also be a presenter at the 37th annual ceremony. The distinctions she is up for are Best Female R&B/Soul Artist and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Hilson, who was named Best New Artist at the BET Awards earlier in the year, is a long-time singer-songwriter whose debut album was released in March. But during the lead-up to "In a Perfect World" the artist kept busy as a backup vocalist and with roles in numerous music videos, including Usher's "Love in This Club." Her own work opened at #4 on the Billboard 100 and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

The critically acclaimed album includes four singles released prior to the album's debut. Besides the solo songs "Energy" and "Return the Favor," "Turnin' Me On" features Lil' Wayne, while "Knock You Down" features Kanye West and Ne-Yo. The most recently released is "Slow Dance," which charted at #2 on the Oct. 16 episode of BET's "106 & Park." A sixth single, "Change Me," is in the works for international release.
