Oral Arguments Set in Roman Polanski California Appeal

Oral arguments have been scheduled by a California appeals court on Monday in the Roman Polanski case, says a new report.

The Associated Press reports that the California Second District Court of Appeal scheduled oral arguments for Dec. 10.

The filmmaker's attorneys asked the court to order a judge -- who earlier this year refused to rule on the dismissal motion -- to decide a motion to dismiss the case against Polanski, whether Polanski is present or not, says the AP.

Polanski was arrested in Zurich on September 26 for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977. After pleading guilty, he fled the U.S. in 1978.

  • If Polanski was a black man he'd do exactly as well (well...) since his "special treatment" has to do with his celebrity, not color. In fact, he'd be doing even better cuz in addition to his celebrous friends voluble nonsense, the whole race-hustler mafia would be screaming he's persecuted because of racism.

  • The coward needs to show up in court and deal with the consequences once and for all. He fathered children with a much younger wife. I wonder if he would feel the same if something happened to his children. Come and face the U.S. courts. Stop showing your yellow belly! Hollywood stop praising a rapist!

  • Roman Polanski should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. He was found guilty of raping a child. He then fled justice before his sentence could be set. The crime he committed was vile and he deserves no mercy. Polanski raped a child; he must pay for his crime. If anyone doubts that what he did was rape, then read the transcripts from the trial -- they are on the Internet -- and then decide if he deserves anything better than rotting in prison. There is nothing that could excuse what he did. And, of course, if he were anything but Caucasian, not one person would consider him worthy of mercy. It would be unanimous: "Off with his head!" His protection is his "White Privilege" and "Wealth Privilege." More the shame on our society.

  • If Roman Polanski was a black man, he would not be getting the special treatment that he is. He drugged and had sex with a 13 year old when he was in his 30's! That's just plain WRONG!

    • Honestly what does race have to do with sexual predilictions? Black, Red, White, Yellow, a child predator is a child predator, it isn't exclusive to black and white men.......
