"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" producers Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Gary Goetzman and star Nia Vardalos are suing Gold Circle Films claiming the production company has breached contracts to pay a portion of revenue from the hit film.
The producers allege Gold Circle has thwarted attempts to conduct an audit and has provided accounting statements that are "vague and inadequate in failing to provide information consistent with industry standards," causing unspecified damages to the producers. If Hanks's lawyers successfully prove that Gold Circle is guilty of the alleged Greek Wedding book-cooking, it could spell serious trouble for the modestly sized production company, which is likely still relying on the sleeper's hefty profits to help churn out and promote their various other offerings--lesser-seen gems, like Dawg and Diane Keaton-Mandy Moore intergenerational impasse comedy, Because I Said So.
