Question: Dear Anya, I watch "The Insider" just to see Lara’s Look for Less. You always keep her looking so beautiful and I’m always amazed at what you can accomplish in the same stores I shop in all the time. My question to you is: what are the basics?
Answer: Thanks so much! Basics in your closets should be: a great pair of crisp, dark boot-cut jeans, black pants, a white blouse, a long cardigan, black boots and tights, a little black dress, and tons of accessories!
Question: What is the best neckline for very flat chested women?
Answer: Good question! Very flat chested women can wear many different necklines, even some that other bustier women cannot! Try a v-neck which gives the illusion of more of a chest.
Question: Anya, do you dress the guest on the show? Answer: That depends! Sometimes our guest arrives dressed and sometimes we dress them. My biggest challenge is making sure that everyone looks coordinated together, making it look pretty for you to watch at home!
Question: I always hear it is best to mix and match expensive items with looks for less! What items should the big money be spent on?
Absolutely, it is all about mixing and matching. Invest in jeans, shoes, and purses. Mix and match inexpensive tops, jewelry, and dresses for a fully styled look. P.S – no one will know!
Question: I have tons and tons of clothes, but I have a tough time putting the colors together. I spend literally an hour every single evening trying to put an outfit together when it should only take me a few minutes. Any advice? Please help!
Answer: Of course! You should not be taking an hour to get ready! Here is something to help – think of it as layering colors. Begin with your neutrals and add two or three colors to your outfit. If you use more than two or three colors you can start to look like a rainbow and not styled. Here are a few of my favorite color combinations: black, pink, and white, gray and purple, black, white and red, navy and cream. Be sure to stay away from two bright colors at once. Always have a neutral and bright in your outfit. Hope this helps!
