Rihanna On 20/20 Tonight

In a 20/20 interview airing Friday, Rihanna gives more details on what sparked her February 7 beating by then-boyfriend Chris Brown and the injuries she sustained in the assault.

Rihanna reveals a text message Brown received from another woman sparked the argument that led to him beating her while leaving a Grammy Awards party.

“I caught him in a lie, and he wouldn’t tell the truth. And I wouldn’t drop it,” she tells Diane Sawyer. “I couldn’t take that he kept lying to me, and he couldn't take that I wouldn't drop it … It escalated into him being violent towards me. And it was ugly.”
