CelebSugar: Mel's a Married Mama

Spice Girl member and mommy-of-two Melanie Brown (a.k.a. Mel B) just can’t seem to keep her name out of the news lately!  First, there was the highly publicized paternity battle between Scary and ex-beau Eddie Murphy.  Now, the secret is out—Melanie B is a married woman!  And here’s the clincher: the wedding occurred over two months ago, and has been kept under wraps until now.

For those of you who didn’t even know Mel was dating anyone, you are not alone.  I am, after all, a self-proclaimed celebrity news goddess and knower of all things Hollywood, and I had no idea.  So who is this mystery man?  His name is Stephen Belafonte and he is a movie producer who as achieved great success in his field—including producing for the sexy dark comedy Thank You for Smoking.  He and Mel had been dating steadily since last year, when her relationship with Eddie Murphy suddenly went sour.

But Belafante, whom Melanie B calls “a godsend”, hasn’t always been quite as godly as Mel says he is now.  The singer says she is definitely aware of the movie mogul’s troubled past, which includes several arrests, but this information apparently wasn’t enough to stop the Spice Girl from tying the knot in Las Vegas this past June.  I’m so happy for Mel B and hope they have a great life together…but you want to know the really good news?  She signed a prenup!  Good Girl!
