Crabbie's Hollywood: Amy Winehouse OD's

From Crabbie's  Hollywood...
British tabloid the Sun claims Amy Winehouse's exhaustion episode from yesterday was actually the result of a drug overdose. Sources for the rag say Amy was dragged into the A&E unit at London's University College Hospital by her husband Blake Civil-Fielder and an unidentified female friend, received adrenaline shots and had her stomach pumped. Says a witness:

[Winehouse] was falling over and stumbling around. She didn’t look well at all. She was with a female friend and a bloke who I think was her husband. He was wearing a trilby. They came in and went straight up to the reception desk. Her friends looked really worried about her. The bloke was holding her up because she couldn’t really stand on her own. Her girlfriend was doing all the talking and the receptionist seemed to be listening very carefully. That’s when I realised Amy must have been really ill because although there was a big crowd of people in the waiting area, she was rushed straight through. A nurse came over and helped Amy into the main part of the hospital.

A friend of Amy's says this has been coming for a long time:

We’ve been terrified something like this would happen for months. Amy has lost the plot and her partying is out of control. We are praying this is the wake-up call she needs.

If experience with crazy drugged-out celebs has taught us anything, it's that one little trip to the emergency room is hardly enough to qualify as a wake-up call. Amy will need to have several of these episodes, and be arrested, and basically flush her career down the toilet before she will even experience a glimmer of a hint that maybe her life is going in the wrong direction. The funny thing about drug addicts/alcoholics is that they don't learn good - they're hard-headed. They have an endless repertoire of rationalizations designed to allow them to continue living their lives in the most self-destructive way possible while keeping all their concerned loved ones at bay. It's just the way they are.
