Maksim Reviews 'Dancing with the Stars' Final Four: I Didn't Like Anybody's First Dance

"Dancing with the Stars" pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy blogged his honest opinion of how the final "Dancing with the Stars" contestants performed this week, and he was not impressed.

"I'll be honest -- I didn't like anybody's first dance. They were fine, but not spectacular," Maksim wrote on his TVGuide.com blog. This week, model Joanna Krupa was voted off the show, leaving Donnie Osmond, Mya and Kelly Osbourne as the top three remaining contenders.

"I liked Mya's first dance, but not like, 'Oh my God! I'm falling head over heels!' It was better than anyone else's, but the first round, I didn't like in general," he said, continuing on about Donnie's first dance, "Donny is a strong guy. He tightened up completely and Kym [Johnson] wasn't able to yank him back into place and he never recovered. I felt really bad. I was like, 'Oh, no! This can't be happening!'"

The "Dancing" pro also reacted to Kelly's rise to the top, saying that he thinks she's dancing well for her skill set. "I'm not sure if I loved her rumba, but it was cool to see Kelly do something that she would probably never do in her life. ... Combined with the emotional package they put together, showing her journey, that's the way to win the audience and the voters. I think it was great. I'm very happy for her."

"Dancing with the Stars" returns Monday on ABC at 8/7 p.m. Central.

  • In my opinion voters reflected their support for individuals
    rather than their dancing ability. This defeats the quality of tthe judges ratings.

  • This show sucks, can someone tell me why Donny is in the Finale and Joanna Krupa and Derek are eliminated??? It is fix because: Donny is an Osmond and Kelly is a daughter of Ozzy. Straight forward. It sucks. Eva

  • I believe from the semi-finals on the judges should pick the winners. The wrong people are being sent forward.

    • The show is all about entertainment. Get a grip people. The audience has found enjoyment in watching Donny, Mya and Kelly. DWTS, like AI, rely on their audience, that's why the audience vote is factored in. If this were a true dance competition, there would be only judges. Besides, we all have differing ideas of what is best...I didn't enjoy watching Derek swinging Joanna around like a s.x rag doll. But that's me...like you, we all have our opinions. Let it, enjoy the finals for what it is...entertainment!

  • That was a great blog and I encourage everyone to read the entire blog entry at TVguide.com and not just the pieces Insider pulled out to make it look negative. All of the nice comments about the other dances and dancers in general were left out. Typical!
