'New Moon' Takes Bite Out of Weekend Box Office, Pulls in $140.7 Million

After breaking opening day records, 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' continued a successful weekend at the box office, grossing $140.7 million in its first three days domestically and a total of $258.8 million worldwide.

The Summit Entertainment film had one of the top 10 all-time openings, studio estimates show.

Sandra Bullock's Southern charm paid off in her new film 'The Blindside,' pulling in $34.5 million, while the disaster film '2012' came in at No. 3, making another $26.5 million.

Sony's alien adventure 'Planet 51' came in at No. 4, grossing an impressive $12.6 million. Rounding out the top five was 'Disney's A Christmas Carol,' pulling in another $12.2 million.
