'New Moon' Rises Again to Top Holiday Movie Box Office

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' topped the Thanksgiving box office, making an estimated $42.5 million over the three-day weekend and putting its total domestic earnings at a staggering $230.7 million.

Sandra Bullock's Southern charm film 'The Blindside' came in at No. 2 over the holiday weekend, grossing $40.1 million, while the disaster film came in at No. 3, pulling in $18 million in three days.

'Old Dogs' -- starring Robin Williams, John Travolta and his daughter Ella -- had a successful opening weekend, making $16.8 million.

Meanwhile, Jim Carey's film continues to top the box office, rounding out the top five over the holiday weekend with an estimated $16 million made in ticket sales.

  • New Moon was way better than Twilight. Chris Weitz did a way better job than Catherine Hardwicke, she added things that weren't in the novel. I like when the directors stay as close to the story as possible.
