Latest: Congress Calls for White House Party Crashers to Testify at The Insider

Congress on Monday called for an aspiring reality TV show couple to testify and explain how they successfully crashed a private White House dinner party last Tuesday night, according to a new report.

CNN reports that House Homeland Security Committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson is asking for both the couple and the head of the Secret Service, Mark Sullivan, to testify at a hearing on Thursday about the breakdown in security that ultimately allowed the couple to meet President Barack Obama without being on the party's guest list.

"This is a time for answers, recognition of security deficiencies past and present, and remedies to ensure the strength of the Secret Service and the safety of those under its protection," Thompson said in a statement to CNN. "This is not the time for political games or scapegoating to distract our attention from the careful oversight we must apply to the Secret Service and its mission. My confidence in the management of the Secret Service hangs in the balance."

The polo-playing socialites, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, were scheduled to sit down on CNN's "Larry King Live" tonight, but have canceled their appearance.

No one got hurt except the pride of the secret service. I think the party crashers should not be punished. This should just be a learning opportunity for the White House security.

No testifying, just criminal charges. Under the prior administration they might have been renditioned to Guantanamo. They definitely should not be encouraged and rewarded for being a security risk.

they are looking for 6 figures to tell their story. I think a congressional hearing will have more than 6 pissed off figures who should fine them into the 6 figures and throw them in jail as an example of what happens when you yank the security services chain

What people would do for 15 minutes of fame. Is this couple so hard up for fame that they would subject themselves to a criminal investigation? I feel that they should face some type of charges. What gives them the right to crash an invitation only dinner at the White House. Do we now go to a no hands on policy at the White House. They should realize that they may very well make it harder for everyday people to visit the White House and the first family. Shame on those people. Heads should roll from the head of Security. Our President should be guarded more carefully than that. The head of the Secret Service should hand in is termination letter yesterday.

Please! This is totally the Secret Service's fault, this couple should've never been even neeear the white house, even worse, getting to the president. These two should not be arrested or such, they should get a diploma for showing how incompetent the Secret Service are, i hope the big boys at Secret Service and the agents on call that night are gonna lose their job. These guys could have been terrorists for all they know, they're lucky Barack Obama hasn't died. Maybe they'll slip at his soon-to-come visit to Oslo, Norway to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, and he'll end up dead. Luckily we've got (here in Oslo), 20 counties covering the guy for the 2 days he's scheduled to be here, if he's not safe in his own house, where is he safe? Secret Service are incompetent idiots.
