Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar opened up in a new interview about the status of their 19th child and how their family is coping.

Michelle, who has been released from the hospital where she gave birth last week, told People magazine in a new interview, "Josie is doing as well as can be expected for a baby at her age. We are taking each hour as it comes."

"We feel so blessed that God has given us to her and are cherishing every moment with her," Michelle said of baby Josie Brooklyn, born at only 1 lb. 6 oz. on December 10.

Dad Jim Bob told People, "This is so difficult, but I know that we are leaving this in God's hands."

"God's will is what we would choose if we knew all the facts. Our children's spiritual maturity is going to deepen so much through this, in a way that couldn't happen any other way," he said of the family's current trial.

Baby Josie is being cared for in a Little Rock, AR, neonatal intensive care unit. The Duggar family is featured on TLC's reality show, "18 Kids and Counting."

  • ColleenC9 Being in the NICU is so hard I had Twins in there for not that long but no matter what baby is in there it's tough! I just hope she visits every moment she can those babies need there moms and dads in ways they can only heal them not strangers! Kangaroo care is the best that baby girl needs it! Bless the family even though this was a freak thing that happened to her she really should just let her body rest and enjoy ALL the kids she has now and even grandbaby she also has!
