The Los Angeles Chief Coroner Investigator tells "The Insider" that Brittany Murphy's cause of death may be "deferred" for several weeks.

Craig R. Harvey, CEO for the Department of Coroner County of Los Angeles, says that the autopsy has begun and that they will need time to determine the results.

"I can say that the death appears to be an apparent natural death, the cause or causes remain to be determined," Harvey says. "The examination is underway at this time and the final cause of death quite possibly may be 'deferred' for several weeks as additional tests are performed as part of the process."

  • concreteangl WOW!!! You all sound well educated, well informed, and very mature! I cannot believe these are posts by adults... you must be children; you act like children and speak as though you are feble minded. Brittany Murphy had an undiagnosed genetic heart defect. She inherrited this defect from her mother and her maturnal grandmother (that means her mom's mom, for those of you whom cannot follow). Her brother also inherrited this same defect. Without proper treatment, this heart condition leads to breathing problems, cardiac arrest and even stroke. My brother and I, also, have this heart arythmia. At the age of 18 while working in the trauma unit of a hospital, my brother suffered a massive heart attack and had to have open heart surgery. When I was 16 I suffered a massive heart attack while asleep in my bed. Neither one of us have ever had a history of drug or alcohol use, yet we both knocked on deaths door. If the irrational thoughts of my felow commentators is correct, everyone with a medical condition must be drug addicts! For someone to say (without ANY evidence) that a person is a "crack " because they die at a young age is absolute absurdity. To see these words in black and white posted by people who do not have even the slightest audacity to own the ludicrous words they speak and hide behind "anonymous" is beyond any reasonable human being's comprehension! This topic of discussion has nothing to do with nationality, race, religion, color or creed. If it were about "who has the better country" I could easily state the fact that the United States produces more and better trained doctors than any other country in the world. I could also state the fact there is a waiting list over 3 years long of European doctors who want to come to the U.S. to train and learn better patient care methods. Does this mean that my country is better than anyone else's country? Certainly not. We all need each other. There is only one race, the HUMAN RACE. The world has lost sight of the truth that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL! What I have to offer will fill the need of another, and what another has to offer will fill my need. A kind word can save a life! But to post such hate-filled words lacking all thought and logic, you all must be delusional and suffering some sort of psychotic break! It is pure ignorance, no, it is pure STUPIDITY, that one would say this untimely death of such a beautiful and talented young woman is the product of culture or religion! If that were so, every nation under the sun would have the same guilt covered hands. There is no innocent party and no one peoples is correct on all sides of any issue. (Ignorance can be taught, stupidity doesn't want to learn!) I believe in all paths to God. If you do not, so be it, that is your right as a human being. However, do not speak ill of one belief or another, for you never know who may be correct. If I live my life for God following the path that is defined in the Holy Bible, and you choose to live and believe there is no God... We both die and you are correct I have lost nothing, I lived a long, happy and fulfilled life. But if we both die and I am correct, you have lost everything and I have gained riches beyond measure. The point to life is not to force what you believe on to everyone else or to tolerate them inspite of the differences. The point is to love everyone BECAUSE we are different! If you cannot see that a young woman lost her life, her future... If you cannot see that a family has lost a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend-their whole heart!- then there is no hope for this world. I pity every single one of you for yuor lack of respect and compassion! It sickens me to read these comments and I realize just how lost FAITH LOVE and HOPE really are... but the greatest of these is love...
