American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis has scored his own record deal. Blake signed with 19 Recordings/Arista Records and is already recording an album with producers like JR Rotem and Sean Kingston that should be released toward the end of the year.
Clive Davis, who has had problems with another American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, says of Lewis,
“Blake has a strong music sensibility and knows who he is and what his music should represent. His collaborators are all knocked out by him.”
Blake said,
“I love performing, so spending the summer on the road has been a great experience,” Lewis says in a statement. “But I’m also enjoying my time in the studio and I’m very excited about recording my debut album. I’m thrilled to be working with 19 Recordings and ARISTA Records.”
Congrats to Blake - I’ll bet he’ll be successful as long as he doesn’t beatbox in every song.
