The 2003 world champion was forced to make the heart-wrenching decision of sending her little boy back to australia with her mother on Friday in order to focus on completing her fairytale comeback in Osaka.
It seems to be paying dividends for both, with a relaxed and focused Rawlinson seemingly at the peak of her powers and Cornelis thriving with his grandparents.
"He is going great," Rawlinson said.
"He has got through nights since he has got home, which I was a bit worried about, having poor mum and dad having to get up all the time.
"Apparently he is a 'Porridge Pirate' -- he's started eating lumpy food for the first time."
