A family member discovered Owen at his LA home on Sunday, and quickly called an ambulance.
Authorities were alerted to the apparent suicide attempt after someone called Santa Monica police, and an ambu lance raced to the home just after noon Sunday.
There were no details as to what may have caused Wilson to go off the deep end, except that the incident occurred shortly after a vicious quarrel with an unidentified friend.
Wilson’s last serious romantic relationship, with Kate Hudson, fell apart just before Memorial Day.
Hudson had been spotted over the weekend very publicly canoodling with new love Dax Shepard, but sources insisted that it did not contribute to Wilson’s emotional turmoil.
Wilson’s family rushed to his hospital bedside.
A spokesperson for Cedars Sinai Hospital said Owen was in stable condition. Sources claimed he will most likely be at the hospital for at least a couple days, so doctors can closely monitor him.
