Angelina Jolie Defends Shiloh's Style: Children Should be Allowed to Express Themselves

Angelina Jolie talks about her 4-year-old daughter Shiloh's tomboy look, saying she finds her daughter "fascinating."

"Children should be allowed to express themselves in whatever way they wish without anybody judging them because it is an important part of their growth," the 'Salt' actress tells Reuters. "Society always has something to learn when it comes to the way we judge each other, label each other. We have far to go."

Jolie says of Shiloh, "I think she is fascinating, the choices she is making. And I would never be the kind of parent to force somebody to be something they are not. I think that is just bad parenting."

The actress recently revealed that she got a tattoo for her longtime love Brad Pitt. When asked by MTV News for the story behind her new ink, Angelina replied with a smile, "Um, it's for Brad." She didn't divulge what the tattoo says.

  • car1966 For once I agree with Angelina. Never thought it would happen. There are certain functions and occassions when she should step in and make Shiloh conform to ediquette. For the most part let a kid be a kid.

  • VIEWER So Shiloh doesn't dresss the way the media thinks she should. She is a child for goodness sake. The child is 4 years old. I agree with Angelina. There is nothing wrong with it. Kids go through stages and by the time she is 6 she may only want to dress up. I think the way Suri Cruise is dressed is ridiculous for a little kid. Suri should be in jeans and shorts and that kind of thing once in a while. As Sharika in the post below this one said it doesn't mean she will dress like this as a teenager etc.

  • Sharika Shiloh is 4 years old. What she wears at this age, doesn't mean she will continue to wear it at 12, 16 or 21. Kids at a certain age goes through phases. This is hers right now. Not everyone is a fashion plate that Suri Cruise is now.
