Sneak previews of Britney's new record reportedly indicate that it's very 80's synth pop influenced. Don't. Don't you want me? You know I can't believe it when I hear that you won't see me. Britney IS so destined to be working as a waitress at a tail bar. That much is true. Seriously. She'd probably be happier.
Like many of today's young dance-pop starlets, Britney sounds like she's looking back to the '80s as she moves forward toward the release of her fifth studio album (and first since 2003's In the Zone), due out Nov. 13.In addition to the pulsating first single, "Gimme More," other tracks we heard at an exclusive preview have a synth-heavy sound that nods to new wave. The defiant "Piece of Me" the likely second single and possible album title, features Spears's heavily processed voice issuing the challenge: "You want a piece of me?" to her foes. The track was produced by Bloodshy & Avant, the Swedish producing team behind her hit "Toxic."
People need to stop writing about her "foes" because she's unbalanced enough and will go on a shooting spree. Or an umbrella-swinging spree. I'm gay enough to say that the album sounds like it's right up my alley, I take my pop like I take my men. Icy and forgettable. "Leave Britney alone! She's not well! You bastards!" God, that kid rawks.
