Cate Blanchett's Bob Dylan Might Get Her in Good with Oscar

Cate Blanchett can pull out the sexy siren in her, when need be, as is evidenced by this glam black and white photo spread, but is also capable of incarnating the characters she portrays in such a way as to have the Academy wrapped around her little finger. Most recently, her film, "I'm Not There," which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival had audiences buzzing over her portrayal of Bob Dylan from his "Don't Look Back" days. It's been described as a confusing piece of work, but ultimately it's Blanchett's performance that stands out as the best part of the film. Todd Haynes, director of the film, spoke to EW about his film, as well as the intrigue that has surrounded Bob Dylan throughout his career:

''It wasn't just that his every step was followed and commented upon, like people experience today in the media,'' Haynes told EW.com. ''But his every word and move were so analyzed and so carried the weight of meaning with a capital M. It's a whole other realm than even Britney Spears or Paris Hilton could fathom.''

Well, Todd, let's be honest with ourselves here. The idea that Paris Hilton and Britney Spears can fathom anything more complicated than applying lip gloss or not driving drunk is a bit of a stretch as it is.
