Jamie Foxx was honored yesterday with a star on Hollywood’s most celebrated stretch of concrete, the Walk of Fame.
And we can certainly see why: his list of accomplishments is, in a word, intimidating. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (the organization that gives out the stars) provides quite a list of Jamie’s accolades.
Foxx’s outstanding turn in the legendary story of Ray Charles won him the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild (SAG), BAFTA and NAACP Image awards, as well as the mother of all awards…The Oscar. The same year, Foxx received nominations Oscar®, Golden Globe, SAG Awards, BAFTA and NAACP Image for his supporting role in the thriller Collateral. In 2006, Foxx played Curtis Taylor Jr. in the screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls and the film won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Musical Comedy, and received a SAG nomination for Best Ensemble Cast.
Foxx’s achievements marked the first time that a single actor has received three Golden Globe nominations and four SAG Awards nominations in the same year. He is also the first African-American actor to be nominated for two Oscars® in the same year and is only the second man in history to receive two acting Oscar® nominations in the same year for two different movies.
In addition to his outstanding work in front of the camera, Foxx has achieved a thriving career in music. His album “Unpredictable,” topped the charts in late December 2005 and early 2006, as it held the No. 1 spot for five weeks, sold more than one million units in 20 days and was nominated for eight Billboard Music Awards, three Grammy Awards, one Soul Train Music Award and two American Music Awards (at which Foxx won Favorite Male Artist).
In January 2007 Foxx announced his partnership with SIRUS Satellite Radio to start his own 24-hour radio station called Foxxhole. The station is a combination of comedy and music and launched in May.
