Marg Helgenberger on her son being an only child

In the interview she discusses her husband, actor Alan Rosenberg, 56, her television show and why her son, Hugh Howard, 17 next month, is an only child.

Marg and Alan wanted to have more children but things didn't work out that way.  She recalls going through fertility treatments beginning at the age of 39 but stopping short of in vitro.  She said,

By the time Alan and I said, ‘Let’s try for another,’ I couldn’t get pregnant. I figured if it happens, it happens.  It didn’t happen.

After the couple couldn't get pregnant, they considered adoption. However, that was about the time that Marg's career with CSI began and she didn't feel that it would be right.  She said,

And then I thought, I feel guilty that I don’t spend enough time with my one child.  Can I do this to another one?
