Snoop Dogg pleads guilty to weapons charge

Nidhi:

Snoop Dogg has pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous weapon, a collapsible baton which was found in his computer bag at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

The rapper was sentenced Thursday to 160 hours of community service, to make a $10,000 charitable donation and three years of informal probation over the charge, stemming from his September 2006 arrest.

Snoop Dogg claimed that baton was for a video shoot but authorities considered it to be a dangerous weapon.

His lawyer, Donald Etra, said the felony conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor after one year if Snoop Dogg does not violate the law. Etra said,

We are very pleased with the outcome. Snoop’s goal is to make music, not make court appearances.
