Love it!: Naomi Cambell on Italian Dancing With The Stars

It’s not as if any of us watch Dancing with the Stars for the talent (that is, of course, assuming we admit to watching it at all).

As enthralling as the geriatric two-step of Jerry Springer may be, Dancing with Stars is the television equivalent of circling vultures on an entertainer’s career and that’s why its a must-see. Where else can you see the unmistakably mortifying expression of desperation made a mockery by a mess of gold sequins and waxed chests?

So WHY, I ask you, would the baddest, fiercest, most gazelle-like, albeit slightly over the hill (sorry Naomi PLEASE don’t hurt me) supermodel of our time subject herself to such a public declaration of her professional demise?

I’ll tell you why: Cold. Hard. Cash.

The mother of all divas was paid a reported $115,000 to join the Italian Dancing With the Stars cast……and I have to say, she wasn’t half bad. Maybe years of throwing cell phones gave her some sort of agility or balance? Years of walking down the catwalk in stilettos strengthed her twinkle toes? The 37-year-old Naomi received an impressive 33 out of 40 for her opening turn on the show, dancing to Zucchero's Baila Morena with partner Alessandro Camerotto. And on that note, Alessandro, we feel for you buddy, she cannot be the easiest woman to spend ten hours in a studio with, of that we are sure.

So why Italian Dancing with the Stars? Why not American or British? Naomi, I imagine your decision was the equivalent of Brad Pitt hawking cell phones in Asia or Cameron Diaz selling-out as the face of an English language school chain in Europe. It is just less embarrassing.

I cannot say the same for your outfit, however. You looked like Carmen Miranda guest starring in an off-off-off Broadway showing of Anything Goes.
