Martin Sheen Beats Perez Hilton in Popularity Competition with the Gays

Martin and Charlie Sheen were just some of the celebrities out at the Orpheum Theatre Sunday night to help celebrate the Best in Drag yearly Aid for AIDS fundraiser. The father and son team were warmly received by the crowd. In addition, Martin, who has a long history of lending his celebrity to raise awareness of AIDS--among a litany of other causes--received a standing ovation. It was deservedly so, as the father and son team combined their efforts with "2 and a Half Men" co-star Jon Cryer and Charlie's fiancee, Brooke Mueller, to raise $25,000 for the cause. However, the highlight of the evening, in my opinion came immediately following Perez Hilton's introduction. The announcement of his arrival to the stage was met with a resounding wave of boos. Shrugging it off, he told TMZ:

"I'm happy to get the gays talking! I'm even happier to raise awareness for Aid for AIDS, a wonderful organization."
Wow. How disliked do you have to be if you're at an event to raise money for AIDS--a clearly charitable endeavor on your part--and you still get booed? He could help an old lady cross the street, save her from an oncoming truck and still end up with a punch in the face by the time he reached the sidewalk. Also, I loves my Kathy Griffin, but I nearly lost her in this picture of her with two drag queens.
