Alicia Keys realizes why she was branded lesbian

Alicia Keys, the R&B superstar, has her sexuality in dispute simply because she performed in a certain fashion and was “rough around the edges”. That’s the way she sees it. The speculation around her sexuality started with the release of Songs In A Mirror, her debut album, in 2001.

This might sound as though the realization has dawned upon the lady rather late, but that’s how it is. She feels that she has been branded a ‘lesbian’ because she gave reason to the people to suspect her sexuality by the way the appeared and performed in the album. However, she insists that she is not a lesbian.

To quote her:

I was definitely rough around the edges. I look back at certain interviews and I’m like, ‘Damn! Did I have to look that hard? Did I have to do my hair that way?’…I could see why people couldn’t see the diamond in the rough…I didn’t take it to heart. I know what I am. I know it’s not true.

So, now she had officially stated that she is not a lesbian. Would the rumours die now? That’s the million dollar question.
