Cancer was a wake-up call for Alicia Keys
Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys was so hard core about her career that she put her personal life on hold to make it to the top -- until her grandmother got cancer last year.

Alicia, 27, says she was so driven to succeed that she never gave herself a chance to slow down or spend time with people she loved, until she realized she was too close to losing them.

Says Alicia: "That's why I had to totally, completely stop. I'm used to constantly going on to the next thing, but I realized at that moment, 'Man, this is it, this is all I have.'"
