House Star Admits To Battling Depression

Our TV sources tell us that House’s Hugh Laurie has had to halt filming more than a few times recently to head back to his home in England for some R&R. Even his publicist was not afraid to expose the reason: Hugh has been battling depression and anxiety for years, and frankly, misses his wife, Jo, and their three children, Charlie, Bill and Rebecca, and needs their support at this diffiult time.

Speculation of Laurie’s emotional turmoil has intensified since an interview with Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. Despite the fact that the Emmy-nominated actor seems to be ostensibly on top of the world (he reportedly makes an impressive $300,000+ per episode) he did admit to battling depression and regularly consulting a therapist.

Hugh told the Daily Telegraph:

“I’m always thinking about the show. I’m too neurotic and too anal and too convinced that we’re going to fail to relax. Every show we do, every scene we shoot, is a disaster, I’m convinced of it. I go home at the end of the day and my head is full of all the mistakes I’ve made. I beat myself up about what I’ve stuffed up the day before. I’m looking for things to go wrong. I’m not rejoicing or lying back and enjoying it.”

Looks like fame and fortune aren’t always the end to all things. Money can’t buy happiness and Laurie’s unfortunate situation is a testament to this old adage.
