Mekhi Phifer pulls double duty on delivery day
Just hours after witnessing his fiancee Oni Souratha give birth yesterday to his second son, Mekhi Thira, actor Mekhi Phifer attended a press junket to promote the 300th episode of his television show ER.  Noting that he had today off -- something Oni was "really excited" about -- Mekhi said skipping the event was not an option.

We have to keep those bills flowing...It's OK, I just knock this [junket] out, then I head back to the hospital.

Mekhi said that he'll draw upon the wisdom he gained as a father to his 8-year-old son Omikaye when it comes to parenting Mekhi, Jr.   

When I had my first son I was 24 so I was at a different stage in my life, and I have a lot more experience now.  If I do the same thing I did with the first one this one should be fine.

Omikaye's mom is Mekhi's ex-wife, actress Malinda Williams.
