Johnny Depp speaks out about daughter's illness

Words can't describe the fear that gripped Johnny Depp last spring when his 8-year-old daughter Lily-Rose fell ill with a mystery illness, reportedly an E. coli infection, Johnny recently told Entertainment Weekly

To say it was the darkest moment, that's nothing. It doesn't come close to describing it. Words are so small.

Fortunately, Lily-Rose -- who was 7 at the time -- has completely recovered with "no lasting" effects from the illness according to Johnny.

Now every single millisecond is a mini-celebration, man. Every time we get to breathe in and exhale is a huge victory. She pulled through beautifully, perfectly.

Lily-Rose and her brother Jack, 5, delight in watching their dad on the big screen, even if he doesn't enjoy it himself.  In fact, Johnny has never seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

After Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, [my family] went to see it. I hadn't seen it. I was waiting at home, and they came back. And my daughter came up and went,  'You're really weird.' And I knew then, 'Okay. I'm okay. I'm all right.'

That his character of Captain Jack Sparrow in the film series Pirates of the Caribbean has been memorialized at Disneyland also makes Johnny self-conscious.

The idea of my character being put into the ride forever and ever, and that my grandchildren will go there and see that — that'll spin you out. That was a hard one to deal with.

Lily-Rose and Jack are the only children of Johnny and his longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis
