Joel Madden might not have won a prize at the MTV Europe Music Awards on Thursday – but there is one prize he has his heart set on. "I'm gonna be dad of the year!" he told reporters in Munich at the awards ceremony where his band Good Charlotte were nominated for best band. Madden, 28, and Nicole 26, have already said they are keeping the sex of the baby a surprise, and they are also keeping an open mind when it comes to baby names. "We're going to meet the baby first and then we'll figure it out," he said smiling. His brother, Benji, said he has witnessed some serious parenthood prepping in the Madden household. "I see him reading books every day, getting ready, it's exciting. " Added the dad-to be, "The whole band is so excited. We're going to have a little mascot! " Though the pop-rock group, who recently finished touring in Australia, lost the best band award to Linkin Park, it seems nothing can put a dampener on Madden's happiness.
